The gate is the job
Prompt engineering became context engineering, then loop engineering, and now everyone is talking about graph engineering. But every node in that graph is still a loop, and a loop never satisfies your goal, it satisfies the gate you wrote. Van der Aalst described this paradigm in 2005 and called it case handling. What he never had to solve was verification, because back then the human was the gate.
